We exist to love God, love our neighbors as ourselves, and be disciples who make disciples.  We fulfill that purpose by developing ministries that reach and teach children, welcome all who are searching, and invite everyone to participate in God’s great redemption story.

Our Story

With roots in the Protestant Reformation, we got our start as First Reformed Church of Lafayette in 1888. God brought us into a new phase of ministry in 2008, when we moved to our current location and took the name Heartland Community Church. This is our story.

Every mission requires leadership. As we aim to follow Christ in mission, we are led by our elders, deacons, and pastor. Together they form a leadership team called “the Consistory.” In this way, our “government” is seated next to us every Sunday, not far away in some cathedral.

What's Happening at HCC

Our Sunday gathering is not the totality of our life together. It is the main event each week, but it is still just one event of the greater life of the church. The church is active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week because the church is not a building—the church is the people. We, the church, seek to live and love like Jesus every moment of every day.
